WESTERVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) — Footage from body-worn camera shows a pregnant woman asking police, "What, are you going to shoot me?" seconds before an Ohio officer fatally shot her outside a grocery store.Blendon Township released body camera footage Friday from two police officers that showed the brief encounter with, and shooting of, Ta'Kiya Young, 21, who died later after being taken to St. Ann's Hospital.Young died August 24 after one of two responding officers shot her through the front windshield of a car, outside a Kroger whose employees claimed Young and others were stealing alcohol. (The Hill) – Alaska’s state Board of Education voted Thursday to approve a proposal to ban transgender girls from competing on girls’ high school sports teams, advancing one of Republican Gov. FARMINGTON, Mo -- In Farmington, Missouri, a man has been arrested for possession of child pornography. On August 31, 2023, the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Kaleb L. Curtis, aged 23, with three counts of possession of child pornography, resulting in a warrant for his arrest. Curtis voluntarily turned himself in to the St. Francois County Sheriff on the same day, and he has since posted a $50,000 bond. The investigation started in August 2022, when investigators received a cybertip indicating that a social media user had uploaded a video identified as child pornography. ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis woman pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter of a toddler. She was sentenced on September 1 to eight years in prison as part of a plea agreement. She had originally been charged with the Class A felony of child abuse resulting in death.India Basquine, 52, pleaded guilty on July 24 to a reduced charge of first-degree involuntary manslaughter in the death of 23-month-old Jream Polk on May 28, 2018. A hot Labor Day weekend is just the start of another month of expected above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation in Denver.Denver’s average temperature in August was 1.3 degrees above normal, according to Denver’s August climate summary from the National Weather Service in Boulder, and the city saw less than an inch of rain with only seven days of measurable rainfall.Meteorologists at the NWS said a similar pattern is likely to happen in September as well.“General warmer and drier weather,” NWS Boulder meteorologist David Barjenbruck said of September’s outlook. “That’s typically what we’ve seen over the last few years. Police in Irvine have released surveillance footage of a man and a woman stealing several thousand dollars in merchandise from a Nordstrom earlier this week. The incident occurred on Aug. 28 at the Nordstrom in the Irvine Spectrum Center, located at 800 Spectrum Drive. Video of the theft shows the male suspect running through the store with an armload of merchandise, while the female suspect, also carrying stolen items, follows close behind. A short time later, the pair are seen running up a set of stairs toward their vehicle. The suspects then fled in a white Kia Forte, according to the Irvine Police Department.
