Published Fri, 27 Dec 2024 07:36:54 GMT
Dear Amy: I need your objective opinion. I’m a divorced mom of two and last year, my boyfriend moved in with me, followed by his daughter (age 12). I love them both very much.I helped him through his alcoholism, which stemmed from a tragic event. His first wife died shortly after they got married. More tragic was that when she died, she was expecting their first child together. After some time, he went on to marry another woman, and their daughter was born. That wife got involved in drugs and cheated on him. His health deteriorated and he ended up having life-saving surgery. He now has a great job, no longer drinks, and we are generally happy. The issue is that he often brings up his first wife. He has a pendant of her face on their wedding day hanging in his car. He has also brought me and his daughter to her grave. The marker has a photo of him, and his burial plot is next to hers.He once made a comment that if she hadn’t died, we wouldn’t be together, and his daugh...Harriette Cole: I’m rattled by my friend’s unexplained death

ISLAMABAD (AP) — U.N. officials have condemned a Taliban decision to bar Afghan female staffers from working at the agency.Despite initial promises of a more moderate rule than during its previous stint in power, the Taliban have imposed harsh measures since taking over the country in 2021 as U.S. and NATO forces were pulling out of Afghanistan after two decades of war.Girls are banned from education beyond sixth grade. Women are barred from working, studying, traveling without a male companion, and even going to parks. Women must also cover themselves from head to toe.Afghan women are already barred from working at national and international non-governmental organizations, disrupting the delivery of humanitarian aid, but the ban did not previously cover working for the U.N.On Tuesday, however, the U.N. mission in Afghanistan expressed concern after its female staffers were prevented from reporting to work in eastern Nangarhar province. As with his first reelection in 2019, Čeferin was the only candidate.“It really means a lot to me, it is a great honor but mainly it is a great responsibility towards you and towards football,” he said Wednesday. “I will do my best not to disappoint you and to disappoint football.”A professional lawyer, the 55-year-old Slovenian took over as head of UEFA from France’s Michel Platini, who resigned over a conflict of interest and abuse of power scandal. Published Fri, 27 Dec 2024 07:36:54 GMT
A northeast wind prevails today as temps slide into the low to mid 40s this afternoon. Clouds win out as patchy drizzle or a spot shower is possible from time to time. With that said, there will be a lot of dry hours too. Dry enough for baseball to get in at Fenway Park, it’ll just be a cool, raw feel to the air at the game with temps in the lower 40s. Temps hold steady tonight in the lower 40s with a few scattered showers from time to time. As a warm front lifts through tomorrow, temps jump as winds turn southwest. It’ll take the longest to warm near the coast, as a stubborn ocean breeze lingers for awhile. It’ll likely take until late-day to kick out the ocean air in Boston. With that said, low to mid 70s are certainly possible inland for many. Mid morning to mid afternoon will be dry, but late afternoon/early evening will likely see showers/thunder rumble on through. That’s with a cold front. The other side of the cold front offers chillier that comes in w...Latest news
