Denver weather: Rain and snow showers Sunday night into Monday

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver's weather will be colder with showers to start the week ahead of the return of sunshine the Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of Thanksgiving. Winter weather advisories will be in effect through Monday for areas above 7,500 feet. These areas could pick up 3-8 inches of snowfall. When paired with strong wind gusts reaching up to 55 mph, blowing snow could also limit visibility. All these factors will contribute to difficult travel. High wind watches are also set to go into effect Monday in eastern Colorado. Rescue crews took one person to the hospital after a fire broke out inside of a trailer in Homestead.Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the blaze behind a home along the 100 block of Northwest, 14th Street, just before 9:15 a.m., Sunday.Firefighters were able to put out the flames, but the small trailer sustained extensive damage.Officials said the injured victim was transported to a nearby trauma center for care. A South Florida organization held a freedom ride this weekend in support of Israel.As the war against Hamas rages on in the Middle East, the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club held a rally, Sunday morning. At least 100 motorcycles hit the road in Hollywood.Organizer Boaz Ozzy said he wants people to learn from this rally.“To get awareness, show, show and tell and share. A sewer line rupture sent water flowing in the streets of Southwest Miami-Dade.7News cameras on Sunday afternoon captured orange cones and vehicles moving slowly near Southwest 107th Avenue and 48th Street.Miami-Dade Police officers blocked off one lane and diverted traffic around the water.Officials with Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department said crews are making repairs to the 8-inch sewer main.Officials said some some wastewater discharged into an adjacent drainage canal. Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Arlington on Sunday afternoon.Officers responding to a report of a pedestrian struck on Wollaston Avenue around 1:45 p.m. Arlington found an 81-year-old woman who had been struck while crossing Park Avenue in a crosswalk, according to police.She was transported by Arlington Fire/EMS to an area hospital for further treatment of injuries.The driver, a 79-year-old Arlington woman, remained at the scene and is cooperating with an ongoing investigation. The work week will start of dry and chilly, but a storm system is expected to move in this week that could affect holiday travel.Conditions on Monday and Tuesday are expected to be seasonably cool with sunshine. Late Tuesday afternoon clouds start moving in, with rain and even some wintry precipitation to follow. Some places in northern Worcester County & Southern New Hampshire could see accumulating snow Tuesday evening, especially for higher elevations, while the rest of Southern New England sees rain. Although some spots will start with snow, eventually all locations are expected to change back to rain by sunrise Wednesday. The worst part of the storm is expected to move through at this time, with winds gusts up to 50mph and heavy rain. The storm wraps up by mid-afternoon Wednesday, with a cold Thanksgiving expected to follow. Massachusetts parents from different racial, income and education backgrounds have widely disparate information on resources and opportunities when it comes to higher education, according to a new MassINC poll.“As state policymakers work to expand and improve postsecondary pathways for students, we must acknowledge and address the fact that there remain significant gaps in parental expectations and awareness of these pathways, especially among parents who identify as Latino/a/x and low-income,” said Jennie Williamson, director of The Education Trust in Massachusetts.The poll, which was conducted by MassINC and released by the Education Trust in Massachusetts, surveyed a sample of 1,018 Massachusetts parents with students in grades 6 through 12 over the fall.
