President Biden announced on Tuesday that he will run for reelection, ending months of speculation over whether he will seek another term.Biden, who turned 80 years old in November, announced his second bid after months of saying he intends to run and with questions lingering over whether his age and mental stamina would prevent him from holding the office again. Biden would be 82 at the start of a second term. He was the oldest president ever to be sworn-in when he took office in 2020.The White House suggested in January that a formal re-election announcement would come after Biden’s State of the Union address but had not signaled since a definitive time. Biden in recent weeks has hinted that he plans to run for reelection but left timing up in the air until reports surfaced late last week that his team was preparing to make the announcement via video on Tuesday. His campaign apparatus has slowly started to take shape. Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 04:24:32 GMT

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Five months after a deadlocked jury led to a mistrial for actor Danny Masterson, the former star of “That '70s Show" is on trial again in a Los Angeles court. Masterson is accused of raping three women between 2001 and 2003. He could get 45 years in prison if convicted. Here are the key elements, characters and issues that will factor into the retrial.DIRECT DISCUSSION OF DRUGGINGA judge is now allowing the prosecution to say directly that Masterson drugged all three women before raping them, in what may be the biggest difference from the first trial. Previously, the drugging could only be implied when the women testified to feeling disoriented, losing memory and going unconscious to a degree that could not be explained by the alcohol they had consumed. In opening statements Monday, Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller said all three women had consumed drinks Masterson had given them, and that the “evidence will show that they were drug...

Risk of large hail, isolated tornadoes later today

Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 04:24:32 GMT

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Our first of two severe weather threats is expected later today, with the second risk not too far behind.A tricky forecast will unfold this afternoon as a "capped" atmosphere may save some of us but break to leave others susceptible to strong storms. At this point in time, strong to severe storms are still possible for much of our area this afternoon and evening as a disturbance passing overhead, in combination with plenty of moisture and a dry line out west, will help trigger storm development.Slight risk (2 out of 5) for strong to severe storms Tuesday afternoon & eveningA cap in the atmosphere, acting as a lid on growing storms, could suppress storm development. However, most high-resolution models show this cap breaking along and east of I-35 resulting in a better chance of storms and showers. The cap in the atmosphere will determine whether storms will develop Tuesday afternoon/eveningIf the cap breaks and storms develop, large hail, isolated tornadoes and da...

They must have felt like their big day was boring people......I find this to be totally rude. It's one thing if there's an emergency but super tacky if you're simply rushing to get home. We will soon be sending out invites to OUR wedding. Can you ask your listeners if they would find it rude if I included a request that guests stay for the entire reception?  We are spending so much time and money on this one day. Dear Amy: My husband was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 67.About six months after diagnosis, we had a graduation picnic for our granddaughter. My brother-in-law came, got drunk, and when he left, he banged our daughter’s car and told no one. (We were not aware that he was so drunk.)My husband called his brother and he admitted that he’d hit her car, but said he was too drunk to return to the party, so he was going to call later the next day.My daughter called her uncle and lectured him about drinking and driving and was pretty hard on him. I did the same.He texted us and said he didn’t need to be lectured by us and that we wouldn’t see him again. He said he’d send a check for the damage. My husband called him and did not lecture him, but said that we were concerned about his drinking. (We had expressed this in the past.)Over the next two years, he never checked on my declining husband and did not come to his funeral less than three years later. My children and I are bitter. When this ...

And we still are,” he said in the video, which opened with images of the January 6, 2021, insurrection and abortion rights activists protesting at the US Supreme Court.“The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom. More rights or fewer,” Biden says in voiceover narration. “I know what I want the answer to be and I think you do too. This is not a time to be complacent. That’s why I’m running for reelection.”Biden’s official de...
